The 7.62×51mm NATO cartridge is a caliber used by the AK-47, Scout, AUG (Counter-Strike: Source only), G3SG1, SSG 08, and SCAR-20 in the Counter-Strike series. It also used by the M60 machine gun.

Due to its larger size and weight, the 7.62x39mm cartridge fires with longer range and damage than the 5.56×45mm. However, weapons chambered in 7.62 suffer from sluggish movement disadvantages, generally have slower rate of fires and have high recoil.

Ammunition management

  • $80 per magazine of 30 rounds.
  • The maximum amount of 7.62×51mm NATO rounds a player can carry is 90:
    1. The G3SG1 and SCAR-20 has four full spare magazines and one 10-round spare magazine.
    2. The Scout and SSG 08 has nine full spare magazines.
    3. The AK-47 and AUG has three full spare magazines.
    • This costs a total of $240 for the rifles. For the M60, a player can hold up to 200 rounds (two spare magazines and a third magazine consisting of 20 rounds), costing a total of $560.
  • Although it uses the same cartridge, the M60 does not share ammunition with the AK-47, Scout, Steyr AUG, and the G3 according to the game settings and the fact that it fires from a belt.
