Monastery (ar_monastery) is an official Arms Race map in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Monastery is a large, open-spaced an Arms Race map added as part of the October 1, 2012 update. It features the GSG-9 as the Counter-Terrorists, and the Balkans as the Terrorists.

This map is not available in the Perfect World version of Counter-Strike Global Offensive due to the map taking place in Tibet.^[1].
This is the only Arms Race map without an achievement for winning five matches.

Monastery was originally simply called Tibet.
Judging from the details of the map, it is likely this map's namesake is based off the real-life Potala Palace in Tibet or another monastery in the Himalayan mountains.
