The battery is an item shared among GoldSrc engine games to fill or repair the player's armor.
Overview[]
When picked up in-game, batteries restore 15 armor points on Easy and Medium difficulty levels as well as Multiplayer sessions and 10 armor points on Hard.[1]

Bugs & Exploits[]
- Although HEV Chargers can still restore armor points, a bug that appeared during the Counter-Strike Beta (version 3.0), prevents armor points given through HEV Charger or batteries from absorbing/reducing any damage unless a Kevlar Vest or Assault Suit had been picked prior. This still persists on the latest builds of Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero and Counter-Strike: Condition Zero: Deleted Scenes.[2]
- If spawned through the "give" command in the Deleted Scenes, the game will crash unless a battery had already been placed by the map maker.
Trivia[]
- Batteries are available because the GoldSrc games share Half-Life's pre-caching.
- Although not making any official appearances in the series, batteries can be placed in custom maps.
- They can be spawned in Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero and Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Deleted Scenes.
- Due to the lack of the "give" command in the multiplayer games, they can only be placed during a map's development.
