  • Hi Mroosa, I'm working on a project that requires the png images of the karambit knives that you posted on the CS:GO knife thread, i tried using firefox to get the images however, it dosent seem to be of a high quality, may I ask if you have the high res images for me to use? thanks

    • Which images are you referring to? The majority of the images we collect for weapons, skins, and models are taken directly from their game-files. These generally max out at 512 x 512, but most in-game weapon images max out at 360 x 360 (including empty space).

  • I originally posted this to the forums but since nobody replied I think it might be more effective to just bring it to an admin.

Currently, the Did you know section says that:

[Did you know] ...Nuke takes place somewhere in Harz, Germany?

There are a few problems with this, firstly is that it doesn't mention which version of Nuke is it, since the older Nuke probably don't take place in Germany. Second, assuming that it's referring to the most recent version, then the new CSGO version of Nuke takes place in America, in a fictional place called Cedar Creek, not Germany.

I want to edit it and fix it, but the did you know template is locked, so yeah, a heads-up.

    • The older CSGO version of the map took place in Harz, Germany, at least according to the trivia on the Nuke page so it isn't wrong just outdated. But I don't see why the did you know template is locked in the first place.

  • Good day.

The current navbox is currently cluttered (in my opinion) and, for the premier league containers, outdated. So I would like to propose a cleaner looking navbox, grouping all similar containers (for example, the Chroma cases) into one group. I also shortened the case names. The navbox is available on my profile page.

I wish you might take a look at it, and, if necessary, implement it.

Thank you for your time, colexerus (Profile  Talk) 15:20, May 28, 2017 (UTC)

    • Leave as is. It may look cluttered, but its easier to get to exactly what you need. Although I get what you are trying to do with yours, its too busy and a lot harder to find what you need.

The main issue is the use of abbreviations and non-links as titles. This leads to a lot of confusion. We always strive to make it as simple as possible to get to the information that you need, which is why most links are left as their proper title, and not abbreviated.

Additionally, it helps SEO to have the proper titles as links, instead of abbreviations. Just the link (in code) is not enough, having link titles match page titles improves readability and ranking.

    • Oh, alright. I see. Thanks for the feedback.

  • Good sir,

Please explain why the page I had been working on for my friend Hieb, who ever so reluctantly answered my questions I asked him to get all the text down (a piece of hard work, I shall note!) was taken down.

He IS the most mentioned person when talking about Vertigo, everyone in the playerbase knows him and everyone greatly appreciated the article I wrote, so it is rather disappointing to see it removed from "your" Wiki.

This is a wiki dedicated to the community, to everyone who participates in it, just like my friend, who participates in exploring and documenting CounterStrike-relevant stuff. This wiki is not yours to take and give. I'm just a car mechanic, and I felt great over having created that article. People liked it, even the developer of de_vertigo, Chris Auty. To put it into his words (this is an excerpt from a chat between Hieb and Chris):

[19:49:05] Chris Auty: a community evolved around vertigo o_O

[19:49:12] Mark Severin: IT DID! :D

[19:49:20] Chris Auty: that's pretty cool!

[19:49:39] Chris Auty: what's it like?

    [..]

    [19:56:57] Chris Auty: that's amazing

[19:59:38] Chris Auty: I had no idea there was so much more depth there

[20:00:14] Mark Severin: i highly appreciate your work good sir :)

[20:00:20] Chris Auty: a happy accident as bob ross might say

    [20:00:26] Chris Auty: aww thanks

[20:00:31] Mark Severin: "look at that happy little skyscraper right there"

    [...]

    [20:13:58] Chris Auty: fucking awesome

[20:14:07] Chris Auty: does it take a lot of preparation?

[20:14:24] Mark Severin: if you prepare it a little, you can get it down

[20:14:28] Mark Severin: the hard part is figuring it out

    [20:14:39] Chris Auty: Science!

    [...]

[20:44:54] Chris Auty: without guys like you and the community guys like me wouldn't exist

You took something from our community and simply threw it in the trashcan. Hieb's notable impact on the map and how it is played and perceived today is inevitable if you want to play it even once; the complete playstyle overhaul was inspired by him! Any rank above legendary eagle uses his strats, everyone uses his calls, smokes, flashes. His way of aggressing and defending. Positioning. Everything.

I would really like to know what led you to the conclusion that this was "useless content"? And, should you think of it otherwise, to please reinstall the post. We all wish for it.

Sincerely, NeatFurry and the Vertigo Community.

    • Sorry for removing your work, but this wikia is for the Counter-Strike games and those involved in making the games. We do not include players for a reason. Additionally, unless the resource is especially needed we do not link out to individual's YouTube pages nor community guides except under special circumstances.

If you wish to transcribe the content within the guide, feel free, but do not simply include a link out, nor link out to a YouTube video.

  • In the drops section of the skins list, it uses 3 different symbols, and I was wondering if you could elaborate on which each one meant?

    • Sure Nerdsie, at the bottom of the page is the legend:

      * Added at a later date
** Removed from case at a later date
† Exclusive to the current operation

  • I see you have been removing branded images from cut CZ maps. I get that for normal maps branded images should be discouraged (since they could be replaced by any regular screenshot). However for cut maps that weren't leaked, images from previews are all we're going to find. If some preview had an exclusive image and branded it, does that mean the image can never be shown on the wiki?

  • Like "Cache/Gallery" "mp7/gallery" "GIGN/Quotes" "Sticker Capsule 2/Gallery" for example when other page titles have a space.

I think it would be better if these page titles had a space between the words.

  • I edited this template to have a link to the CSS patches page I made.

    http://counterstrike.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Series

The new link I added shows up on the page of the template but not on pages that use it like:

    http://counterstrike.wikia.com/wiki/Counter-Strike_patches

Note how there's no  (Patches) link on the template. Shouldn't the edit normally appear on all pages that use it?

      Loading editor
    • It was not showing up because it was cached. When a template is transcluded, it takes a while to propagate throughout the site (by design since templates are not dynamic content). The easiest way to move this along on specific pages that need it, is to edit the page, and then save without making any changes. You will see the updated template. I did this for that page, and you can see the patches link now.
