Monastery (ar_monastery) is an official Arsenal map in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Monastery is a large, open-spaced an arms race (arsenal) map added as part of the October 1, 2012 update. It features the GSG-9 as the Counter-Terrorists, and the Balkans as the Terrorists.

  • Monastery is the second map in Global Offensive to be set in a snowy environment (the other map is Office).
  • Judging from the details of the map, it is likely this map's namesake is based off the real-life Potala Palace in Tibet or some other monastery in the Himalayan mountains.
  • Monastery is the least popular Arsenal: Arms Race map, mainly because of its open-spaced areas and sections with higher elevation.
  • This is the only Arsenal: Arms Race map without an achievement for winning five matches.
