Taunts is a currently unreleased feature added in May 31, 2016 Update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive game files.

Overview

It is unknown how they function in-game, but according to files, taunts are restricted to respawning game modes like Deathmatch or Arms Race.

The following reference lines were added in update to sever / client related files.

Required key "taunt_definitions" missing.

Taunt definition %short: missing required "name"
Taunt definition %short: missing required "sequence_name"
Taunt definition %short: name must be signed char positive integer

On the January 12, 2017 update, currently unusable console commands were added to game files.[1] Their functionality remain unknown.

Console Commands

The May 31, 2016 update added ConVar documentation in the game files. The commands themselves are still unusable.

Server Variable
  • sv_always_allow_taunts
    • Default value is unknown.
    • Normally taunts are restricted to respawning game modes and the end of the round. Set this to allow taunts at any time.

  • Taunts were released in Counter-Strike Online and included 4 main taunts for default characters: [Salute], [Happy], [Angry], [Sad].
