Weapons Expert is an event game mode added to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in Operation Hydra, as a part of the May 23, 2017 update, as one of the three Hydra Events, alongside War Games and Wingman.

The Weapons Expert is a game mode similar to competitive, but modified. The game takes place in quick best-of-20 rounds games, and during the game each weapon is only purchasable once. After buying the weapon once, the weapon can no longer be purchased in the game again, creating another layer on the game's economy management.
Additionally, the mode has increased loser cash rewards ($1900).[1]
Prohibited weapons
The Following weapons were prohibited in June 27, 2017 update.
Rifles
Weapons Expert skill groups
Unlike competitive, the player can see how many matches they must win to rank up. Players gets one pip per win match.
Players not lose pip until reach rank 5.
If the player is on a 2 or more win streak, the player gets 2 pips as bonus[2].
The max rank is 24[3].

This schedule is based on the current state of the "\csgo\scripts\items\items_game.txt" file.[4]
Behind The Scenes
- When the game mode was first introduced, the mode was best of 30 rounds and reuses competitive rules before being reworked.
- According to evidence hinted in early lobby text hints, the game mode originally was best of 16 rounds, but was changed to best of 30 rounds when introduced.
